The Story

College admissions stress is rarely about lack of ambition. It is about lack of accessible, personalized guidance. Applicants need advice from people who navigated the same decisions recently, not generic content written for everyone.

CollegeMentor connects applicants with student mentors for universities, essays, and applications. Leadership needed a platform that could scale matching, messaging, and scheduling in the US, then adapt for Asian market requirements without a ground-up rewrite.

Our approach

We built a microservices backend with admin tooling for users, mentors, matches, and analytics. A React web app and native iOS client served applicants and mentors. The core architecture was later evolved into a separate product for Asia with regional requirements isolated at the service layer.

  • Microservice backend with admin panel for users, mentors, and analytics
  • React website and native iOS app for applicants and mentors
  • Mentor matching, secure messaging, scheduling, and progress tracking
  • Regional product adaptation for Asian market without sacrificing US performance

Results

CollegeMentor scaled personalized admissions support through reliable architecture, first in the US, then in Asia on patterns proven in production.

  • Microservices platform supporting mentor matching at scale
  • US launch on web and iOS with secure messaging and scheduling
  • Asian market product adapted from proven core services
  • Admin analytics giving operators visibility into match quality and engagement
